We’re not oblivious to the fact that there is a global pandemic going on…
We have been monitoring the situation closely, not only as it relates to the world, our families, friends, and our everyday lives, but how it will effect our wedding day. Considering the COVID-related hardships people have been facing all over the world it feels a bit trivial to complain about the difficulties associated with throwing a wedding right now, but we gotta tell ya, it’s been a real challenge.
Doesn’t filling a barnyard with the people you love most in the world on a warm October night sound positively delightful?! Well, that’s what we thought, too, but given these…yep we’re gonna say it….”uncertain times” we are presented with a slew of new challenges. Suddenly all those hours spent deliberating over which font to use on our invitations feels like a walk in the park! Now we’re left considering whether even to continue with our plans to have the wedding reception. And if we postpone, when will it be safe to reconvene? And if we do move forward, to what capacity? And what precautions can be implemented to make it as safe for our guests as feasible?
For the time being we will be proceeding with the party but we’ll be keeping a close eye on things, adjusting plans and possibly the event size as needed to reduce spread of infection. The following are measures we and our vendors will be taking:
Sanitation stations distributed throughout the grounds;
Masks and face shields available to guests (please feel free to bring your own if you prefer). Please take note that we reserve the right to require mask-wearing at the event;
Outdoor venue and dining;
Seatings arranged by family and friend groupings so you can be seated near people you likely already socialize with (special exceptions can be provided);
Our caterer is adhering to CDC guidelines mandating that team members exhibiting symptoms stay home, taking temperatures upon team member arrival, engaging in frequent hand washing, disinfecting and sanitizing frequently touched surfaces, avoiding touching their faces, noses, and mouths and and avoiding handshakes.
While we will do our best to provide the facilities and tools to keep everyone reasonably safe there is also a part you can play. We must leave it up to you, our guests, to make the decision for yourselves if you feel comfortable attending. We cannot and will not fault you should you decide not to attend. For those of you who do plan to attend, please take personal precautions to help reduce the chances of an outbreak at the wedding. There are endless resources online but we’ve included some suggestions below:
Stay home from the event if you or someone close to you is sick or exhibiting any symptoms;
Get tested before arrival, if possible;
Wear a mask or cloth face covering over your mouth and nose when in public;
Wash hands frequently with soap and water for 20 seconds;
Shelter in place and reduce unnecessary exposure.
We recognize that all of our guests have their own comfort levels and outlooks on the current situation so there is no one-size-fits-all solution for everyone.
Please reach out to us directly if you have any questions or comments.
